About apl. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kroschel

In 2003, I was appointed to apl. Professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart.

I studied agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim with special focus on plant production. I hold a PhD in agricultural sciences and a habilitation in agroecology at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart.

During the last 35 years, I worked in different positions in international developmental and research organizations, and as scientist and Professor at German universities:

From 2020 to 2021, for GIZ and the Fund for the Promotion of Innovations in Agriculture (i4Ag) as advisor for agricultural research and extension.

From 2004 to 2019, for the International Potato Center (CIP) as Science Leader for Agroecology/IPM in Lima, Peru (2004-2017), and Country Manager for India, Nepal, and Bhutan and Asia Potato Program Leader, in New Dehli, India (2016-2019). 

From 2001 to 2004, as acting Head/Professor (C4) for Plant Production in the Tropics and Subtropics at the Institute of Plant Production and Agroecology in the Tropics and Subtropics at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart.

From 1999 to 2000, as Senior Scientist/Lecturer (C2) for Plant Production and Entomology at the Institute of Crop Science in the Tropics and Subtropics at the Faculty of Organic Agricultural Sciences, Witzenhausen.

From 1992 to 1998, for GTZ as Team Leader of the supra-regional project “Ecology & Management of Parasitic Weeds”.
